This round table brought together leading scholars to explore the interdisciplinary nature of political communication. Co-organized by the SPSA working group on Political Behavior and Communication and the SACM section on Political Communication, the event featured distinguished contributions from Prof. Jesper Strömbäck (Department of Journalism, Media and Communication) and Prof. Anke Tresch (University of Lausanne / FORS). Hosted by Dr. Chiara Valli, representative of the SACM section on Political Communication, the discussions delved into the evolution of the field, conceptual overlaps and boundaries between political science and communication science, and the challenges of fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration. Participants reflected on how these disciplines can complement each other, addressing differences in theoretical focus and methodology.
